| Tony Teta - Navigator, 305th Bomb Group Teta was a nineteen year old 2nd Lieutenant when he arrived at Chelveston air base in England, during the winter of 1944. Like the other members of Lieutenant Jerome Chart's replacement crew, Tony had no combat experience. The good news was the new P-51 Mustang fighters were now escorting the 305th B-17s on many missions into Germany. The bad news was that the Army's 8th Air Force had changed the rules. No longer would the completion of 25 combat missions, earn an airman a trip back to the States. The new goal was 35! Thirty-five bomb runs through some of the toughest flak fields Germany had to offer...including Berlin. The Luftwaffe was weakened but its many young pilots and few remaining veterans were desperate to defend their German cities. Tony wondered if he would ever see his 20th birthday.
