After more than 30 years as an on-air radio broadcaster at such legendary stations as WABC and WCBS in New York City, Travis L. Ayres wrote The Bomber Boys - True Stories of B-17 Airmen (Author House, Bloomington IN). The book was released in the summer of 2005 and found an eager market on the internet. In the summer of 2009 agent Jim Donovan sent a copy of The Bomber Boys to an editor at Penguin Books in New York City. Penguin soon became interested in publishing a brand new editon of the World War II aviation book and on Oct 5, 2009, The Bomber Boys - Heroes Who Flew The B-17s In WW II hit bookstores nationwide. Since its release as a "Softcover" by N.A.L.-Penguin, The Bomber Boys has been selected by The History Book Club for release as a "Hardcover" edition and a new large print hardcover version is now available from Thorndike Press The Library Jounal honored The Bomber Boys with a "Star Review"...and rated the book as "Highly Recommended." Travis Ayres is currently researching and writing a new non-fiction history book set in the South during the American Civil War, reconstruction and the politically charged years of the late 1800s through the turn of the 20th century. Publication is expected in 2011, the 150th Anniversary of the War Between The States. The author was born and grew up in Louisiana. He and his family now call both Bentonville, Arkansas and Edgewater, New Jersey home.
